The BVP Program is now open for year round registration and applications.  The entire application process takes place online at the BVP web site. Read these instructions and click on the link button at the bottom of this page to go directly to the BVP home page and start your application.

1)Jurisdiction name and address

2)Chief executive contact information

3)Primary contact information

4)Jurisdiction population

5)Number of full and part-time law enforcement officers

6)Bank account and routing numbers that will receive the

                  electronic transfer of funds

7)Vest model number and cost  with the number of vests you                                  anticipate needing

 

 

. Only National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified vests qualify for grant money.   Buy NIJ standard vests.  This lets you know that a vest certified under the newest standard has been subjected to the most recent testing procedures and  standards for certification.  Vests that are certified by older standards of testing have been tested with a standard that can be  several years old.

 

The BPV provides funding priority for jurisdictions with populations under 100,000 (state or local government employees). This may include: Police, state agencies, campus security, parole officials, court personnel, transport  personnel, housing authority, port authority,  full and reserve or part time officers.

 

Based upon availability of funds, these smaller jurisdictions will receive the full 50% of requested funds in approved applications.  For larger jurisdictions with populations at or over 100,000, the program will pay up to 50% of each applicant's total costs, based upon any remaining funds.  Specific funding levels for larger jurisdictions will be determined once all applications have been submitted.
