All of Lifetek's ballistic certification
testing is independently conducted by H. P. White Laboratory in conjunction with the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) and the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center (NLECTC). H. P. White is one of only two labs recognized by NIJ to conduct such testing.
Our soft body armor is designed using DuPont's new Kevlar(R)
with Honeywell's patented Goldflex(R) and Spectra Shield fiber technologies. A Cataphract is a noun used to describe a well armored soldier. These models are monolithically designed. The ballistic fabric is made of strong but flexible Aramid fibers. Lifetek model Cataphract - II, threat level II is less than 0.40 inch thick and Lifetek model Cataphract - IIIA is less than 0.45 inch thick. Some distributors are still selling old style vests
certified under the older 0101.03 and 0101.04 standards. The most recent standard is NIJ 2005 Interim Requirements. Make sure your vest is made using the most recent technology and has been tested using the most up-to-date testing procedures.

Municipalities get help with your purchase through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant Act. Click the Grants info. navigation button on the upper left of your screen to find out what information you will need to apply for funding. The BVP assists states, cities, towns, DC, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, local governments, and Indian tribes, in obtaining funds to purchase ballistic vests for law enforcement officers. Only NIJ certified vests are eligible for BVP funding.
